Beautiful lapis plaques are numerically identified on their backs in Roman numerals. The lapis was cut in Germany by a lapidarist who tapered each section to form a collar. The saturated blue color and sparkling rutile (that occurs naturally in lapis) is complimented  by diamonds set in 18k. An unpolished surface on the lapis pulls in light while the diamonds reflect light back to the observer.
